Laura McLean is a Melbourne-based curator, writer, and researcher interested in the politics of representation and the representation of politics in contemporary art. Past curatorial projects include Civics, Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery, Melbourne (2020); Startup States, Sarai-CSDS, Delhi (2019); The Conversational Cosmos, West Space, Melbourne (2017); Planetary Gardening, Photo Access, Canberra (2017); Zoe v Bios: Behavioural Modernity & Orgs, Artistic Bokeh, MuseumsQuartier, Vienna (2015); and Contingent Movements Archive, Maldives Pavilion, 55th Venice Biennale and UNESCO, Paris (2013). Her writing has been published by The MIT Press, ArtAsiaPacific, Eyeline, HKW Technosphere Magazine, Arena, and Runway Journal, among others, and she was an editor and Chair of Runway Journal from 2015-17. Laura holds an MFA (Distinction) in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London, and is currently undertaking a PhD in Curatorial Practice at Monash Art Design & Architecture, Monash University. She is an Associate Curator of Liquid Architecture, Melbourne.
